In the project two serious games were developed. On one hand they serve as tools for increasing awareness of water scarcity and rational water use in irrigation. On the other hand games can also be used to find out about farmers’ preferences and reactions to different policies. The latter could consist of fining groundwater use in excess of a certain quota or pricing water use starting from the first cubic meter pumped. The first game is a board game, which is played by four farmers and eventually a game leader. The game materials and instructions for use can be downloaded under the link “bordgame”. The second game is an electronic version, but for a single player. It is available as a web app under the link “electronic version”. Both games are available in English and Chinese.
