Launch of the project phase II
Second phase of project started on September 15th
The Project entered its second phase on September 15th. The new phase focuses on implementation of pricing and subsidy schemes in Guantao County. Preferences of farmers will be determined by playing the groundwater game. The agricultural measures of subsidizing fallowing of winter wheat areas and the blocked pricing scheme based on measurement of water use by electricity use will be evaluated in their effect on groundwater tables. In the second phase, the China Center for Agricultural Policy of Beijing University will be a new partner on the Chinese side.
In Phase 2 Prof. Burlando will be the leader of the project in ETH Zurich. Prof. Kinzelbach, who is turning 70 in 2019, will be co-leader under direct mandate from SDC.
Our secretary, Rita Wicki, went into early retirement. Her successor is Viviane Meer. We thank Rita for all her work and welcome Viviane for Phase 2.
