Visit to Gemeinde Riehen
Hydrogeological experts from CIGEM (China) visited geothermal powerplant in Reihen
On 27th August 2018, our partners from China Institute of Geological Environment Monitoring (CIGEM) and some of our Swiss team members visited geothermal power plant in Riehen (Gemeinde Riehen).
Mr. Meier, the manager of Riehen heat supply, gave an introduction about the background of the geothermal energy production in Riehen, as well as the construction and operation of the power plant. Afterwards, he led all the members to walk around the site located underground, and explained in detail each facility.
In recent years China is increasingly advocating renewable energy and sparing no effort to fullfil its promise in controlling carbon emission. The geothermal energy is one of the renewable energy resources that is currently under-exploited in China, and experience from Switzerland could serve as a valuable reference.
